Brain Games & Fitness - Coed, Ages 4-14 +

This is a 55 minute class split equally between physical fitness and brain game activities.

We are combining the use of brain training and physical movement of games and gymnastics. Brain training is a simple but powerful way to enhance a student’s core ability to learn faster, easier, and better. Physical exercise benefits the brain immediately, the healthier and more physically fit the body is, the more efficiently the brain functions. This is because exercise changes the brain at a molecular level.

Research has shown that the brain never stops changing. Stronger brain skills improve how well you think, learn, read, reason, remember, and pay attention. Combining brain games and exercise addresses these skills when they are working at their highest level. This class is great for all kids but can be especially beneficial for kids with learning or attention struggles.

This class will target the following skills:

  • Physical fitness
  • Memory
  • Focus
  • Listening skills
  • Attention
  • Processing speed
  • Problem solving

Note: Kids First will be implementing the physical fitness games. LearningRX will be implementing the brain games.  More information can be found at: http://www.learningrx.com/cedar-rapids-north

Private Lessons +

Why Private Lessons?

All athletes learn different skills, events and routines at different rates. Most athletes have had some skill or event that they have progressed more slowly on than others. It can be difficult to improve on that skill or event if your athlete isn’t given extra attention to detail on that skill. Private lessons can give an athlete the extra attention they need on the specific areas in which they need to improve.

Types of Private Lessons:

  • Tumbling (Groups of 1 to 3 work best. This is great for cheerleaders!)
  • Bars
  • Vault (Groups of 1 to 3 work best.)
  • Floor Routines
  • Beam Routines
  • Strength or Flexibility
  • Trampoline - Individual Skills or Routines

Prices:

Time does not include warm-up time. We ask you to come 15-20 minutes before a private lesson to stretch and warm-up on your own. If the athlete needs attention during warm-up for safety or guidance, that time is part of the private lesson.

  • 1 hour for 1 child, $60/hr*
  • 1 hour for 2 children, $40/hr each child*
  • 1 hour for 3 children, $30/hr each child*
  • Groups of 4 or more we will create a "closed" class. This is great for stunt groups or other small groups. Due to the special nature of the class of being able to select the time, day, and teacher the rate is $4 above our monthly tuition per child*
  • * Each child must have a registered liability waiver on file and have paid our annual registration fee ($45) for insurance purposes.
  • Note: Private Lessons are not held during our breaks

We would like to take a minute of your time, as you begin your adventure with us, to have you read over the goals that we have set for your child. Please know we put a lot of passion into developing programs that will not only challenge your child’s physical abilities, but will also enhance their self-esteem and give them a wonderful activity to look forward to. Each class has specific core skills that are the emphasis of that particular class. They must successfully master all skills listed to advance to the next level. Every child advances and learns at their own pace. It is very common for children to stay in the same class for a few months, all the way up to a year, or even beyond.

We pride ourselves on teaching gymnastics technically correct in a safe environment; therefore children will not progress to a new skill until they are ready. Please feel free to talk to your child’s coach if you have any questions. We strongly encourage communication between coaches and parents between classes. Once again, we would like to welcome you and thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with your child. This is something that each member of our staff does not take lightly.
